Allisha Gray’s record-breaking performance at the WNBA All-Star 3-point contest.
Allisha Gray stole the show at the WNBA All-Star 3-point contest, winning the event and making history.
Gray put up a first-round score of 23 before registering 22 in the final round, narrowly edging out Jonquel Jones’ return of 21.
The Atlanta Dream star became the first player to win both the 3-point contest and the skills challenge on the same evening.
Gray took home a staggering $115,150 in prize money, which is around 62 percent of her annual salary with the Dream.
This achievement adds to Gray’s impressive career, which includes being the 2017 WNBA Rookie of the Year, a two-time WNBA All-Star, and a gold medalist in Women’s 3×3 basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
Gray’s performance was all the more impressive given that Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever rookie and one of the biggest stars in women’s basketball, declined to participate in the contest.
Clark’s decision was met with criticism, with some analysts feeling she had “no excuse” not to participate.
Gray’s record-breaking night is a testament to her hard work and dedication, and cements her place in WNBA history.
