Dodgers are three quarters of the way to winning the World Series over the Yankees, and should they get the Commissioner’s Trophy, the higher-ups in LA are already planning the celebrations and the famous parade of the potential MLB champions.
The joy of Latinos and Americans in Los Angeles is very great, and they are optimistic about giving Fernando Valenzuela a championship in this year that they lost one of their idols, to such an extent that all the baseball players are wearing a number 34 on their uniforms.
“The fans definitely deserve it,” said Dodgers owner Mark Walter on Sunday after the team won the National League pennant.
Los Angeles has been waiting years for its celebration
“The last time we won was during the World Series for COVID and I’m glad that hopefully we’ll win again,” said LA fan Albert Almena at Dodger Stadium before the first game against the New York Yankees on Friday.
“We didn’t have a parade. We didn’t have anything to celebrate the last time. We were in a bubble. They were too. We feel like we’re going to win and we’re going to celebrate like we’re supposed to.”
If the Dodgers triumph over their October rivals from the Bronx, Ohtani will undoubtedly be a big reason why.
Dodgers will have a parade if they are champions
The Los Angeles Dodgers are just one win away from winning the 2024 World Series, and if they do, the California faithful are already prepared to take to the streets of LA and head to Dodger Stadium to celebrate their heroes.
“We didn’t come here to win the championship,” Walter said. “We came here to win the World Series.”
The night the Dodgers won the 2020 World Series – as the home team but playing in a coronavirus bubble in Texas – then-mayor Eric Garcetti told me he intended to hold a celebration, if not a parade, at least some sort of socially distanced party. The Lakers had won the NBA championship in the NBA bubble 16 days earlier, and maybe a joint celebration would be in order.
“I think we were all waiting for the moment, when it would be feasible,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “They were even talking about doing something with the Lakers, doing it together. It would have been amazing. But it just couldn’t be.”
