Fabricio Bruno has not yet accepted a contract offer from West Ham United, according to Venê Casagrande.
The Brazillian journalist wrote via his official X account on Wednesday (29 May) that the centre-back has not accepted the Hammers’ salary proposal, meaning “the negotiation drags on.”
While Flamengo and West Ham have reached an agreement, Bruno and the club have not.
As a result, the transfer still has a chance of “failing.”
West Ham United cannot afford to let Fabricio Bruno slip from their grasp
After Fabrizio Romano had tweeted ‘here we go’, most supporters at the London Stadium would have probably assumed the deal was wrapped up.
This latest twist is not good news for the Hammers.
With this move set to be their first major signing under Julen Lopetegui, the club cannot afford to let it collapse.
It would be a terrible way to start life under their new boss, and it could also threaten to disrupt relationships behind the scenes.
Lopetegui has been known to walk out on clubs in the past.
If West Ham fail to sign Bruno, he might quickly become unhappy in East London.
As a result, the club must do whatever it takes to get this deal across the line.
If Bruno is asking for more money, they might have little choice but to pay him what he wants.
In other West Ham news, a 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a new deal at the London Stadium.
