Friday Headlines: Will Riley Watch

The 2025 recruiting class will be new Kentucky Basketball head coach Mark Pope’s first group of prospects in his new role. Pope has already started working on that list shaping out, with the most recent prospect being Will Riley.

Riley is a 6-9 wing and ranked No. 21 in the 2025 class by 247 Sports. He visited Lexington this week while also paying a visit to a couple of other schools. In addition to Kentucky, Riley is being heavily recruited by Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas & Illinois.

An added twist to the recruitment of Riley is that he could very well transition to the class of 2024 and begin his collegiate career a season early. Considering Pope still has one scholarship remaining this late in the offseason, it would be a perfect scenario for both Riley and the Kentucky Wildcats.

Riley hasn’t said if he’ll for sure reclassify or remain in the class of 2025 but has confirmed that it’s on his mind, and he’s seriously considering the move. He visited Illinois earlier in the week and Alabama most recently, with his stop at Kentucky coming in between the two. Riley also visited Arizona a few months ago and has yet to make a stop at Arkansas.

His college decision for which school he’ll play for, as well as what recruiting class he’ll enter college basketball in, could wind up being a bit sooner than some think — so it’s certainly keeping an eye on this to see if Kentucky becomes a frontrunner in the near future.
