Deonte Banks’ miserable second season has gotten even worse.
The struggling cornerback — whom the Giants drafted with the No. 24 overall pick last year — was replaced by Greg Stroman during the second quarter of the team’s “Monday Night Football” clash against the Steelers.
Banks was benched after he was hurdled by Steelers running back Najee Harris on a big run, which reportedly led to head coach Brian Daboll getting after him “pretty strongly” on the sideline.
There was no injury announced for Banks.
The Giants trailed, 9-6, at the time.
Banks was not in the game to start the second half, either.
Stroman was drafted by Washington in the seventh round of the 2018 draft and signed to the Giants practice squad this past offseason.
The Giants activated him off the practice squad on Monday.
Banks, though, saved a touchdown earlier in the game by pushing Steelers receiver George Pickens out of bounds.
