NFL punishes Packer player ahead of week 8 match against Jaguars…
The NFL keeps fining players because of on-field action. On Saturday, the league announced that Green Bay Packers tight end Ben Sims was fined $5,083 for a play against the Houston Texans last Sunday.
Sims was punished for unnecessary roughness (leg whip) in a play during the second quarter of the game. The second-year tight end is making $915k this season — he was claimed off waivers by the Packers last season after being cut by the Minnesota Vikings. Therefore, he’s still playing under his undrafted rookie contract.

It’s the third Packers player fined by the NFL this season. running back Josh Jacobs had been fined $45k after lowering his head to initiate contact on a play against the Tennessee Titans in week 3.
Last week, cornerback Jaire Alexander was fined $11k for pushing an Arizona Cardinals player.
While it’s tough to see football players losing money like that for normal plays, at least it goes to a good cause. The fines collected are donated to the Professional Athletes Foundation to support legends in need.
