The Minnesota Vikings have gone through some drastic changes this offseason, most notably losing quarterback Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons in free agency and replacing him by signing veteran Sam Darnold and drafting J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan.
The elephant in the room is who these QBs are going to throw to, as superstar receiver Justin Jefferson is in line for a new contract, and one team legend has recently sent a clear message to the Vikings about the situation.
Former star defensive end Jared Allen appeared on Up & Adams this morning and told Kay Adams that the Vikings need to “back the truck up” and give Justin Jefferson the bag.

Allen had no problem with the price tag going up to $40 million a year and said that Jefferson “changes the game, he opens up your run game, he gives you the ability to score at any time” and added that if McCarthy is going to be the franchise quarterback, you can’t let Jefferson go.
Allen praised Jefferson as a game-changer that requires two defenders to focus on him all the time, and that’s not the type of player you mess around with and let slip through your fingers.
Jefferson has eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving in each of his four seasons in the league even though he only played 10 games last year due to injury, and in 2022 he put up 128 catches for 1,809 yards and eight touchdowns.
He is slated to make $19.7 million this season in his fifth-year option, but fans and teams around the league are simply waiting for this deal to be announced, as it will likely reset the bar for WR contracts.
